The Walking with Whitney series is so much more than a developmental movement class, it’s opening a door to a way of parenting, a way of being. Whitney is so lovely - she has a beautiful way of meeting you and your child where you are at and in a non judgmental way guiding and suggesting practical, effective, easy to remember and utilize solutions and play techniques to nurture your child as she grows and develops. I learned so much in each class and this wasn’t my introduction to the topic. With Whitney’s tips, I saw a huge difference in my daughter’s play and development immediately. Doing the series was the best gift I could give her AND me!

Birth- 3 Month Class:
This is where we talk about TUMMY TIME: when to start, how often to do it, what positions are best to promote guaranteed success. We also discuss topics which may be less familiar to you: what to do with your newborn and how to prevent issues like Flat Head Syndrome and Torticollis as well as how to promote natural movement and early play with your newborn while avoiding overstimulation. Additionally, we will touch upon topics such as proper positioning in baby carriers, things to consider when swaddling, appropriate as well as effective toys for this age group in order to promote development. 3 Months through 6 Month Class: Our main topic is rolling: what are the building blocks and precursor skills to rolling, when should you expect your little one to start rolling. We discuss simple ways to incorporate rolling activities in your daily routines and playtime, how to work play into daily routines such as diapering, clothing changes, feeding. We continue to discuss tummy time and give you the tools to help advance your baby’s tummy time skills and why this is important. We touch upon sitting, going into detail about the importance of sitting and when you should expect these gross motor skills to appear. 6 Months through 12 Month Class: In this class we focus on giving you tools to help your child with the hurdles of crawling, the importance of independent mobility and how and why that leads to walking. We address broader topics such as instilling a love of movement in your child and how that relates to the school aged child. Additionally this class focuses on topics such as which shoes to select and why, push toys vs walkers, as well as adjusting your home foster creeping, crawling, climbing, and walking all the while keeping them safe. Come join us to learn more about how to support your child’s gross motor milestones within the first year of life! |

Walking with Whitney was eye-opening and transformative of my daily routine. Whitney’s expanded definition of tummy time and suggestions for modifications have already (in two days) eliminated my worries around the subject and increased my baby’s enjoyment of it.
My baby, who used to cry within two minutes of being placed tummy down, now smiles at the mirror, floats happily in my arms, watches me in the kitchen, and looks at the pages of a book, all tummy down. I could go on and on. Thank you, Whitney!”

I’m so glad we found Walking with Whitney! I brought my 2 month old son and we learned a ton about developmental activities to help encourage tummy time, rolling and sitting. Whitney presents a lot of information in a small amount of time but does so in a way that is easily digestible and hands on. She is willing to demonstrate both with her doll and with your child which is super helpful. I would highly recommend her class to all new parents."
